At Waterproof Decks of Oregon, we understand the importance of a deck that not only looks great but also stands the test of time. That’s why we proudly install Duradek, the finest deck waterproofing product on the market today. Alongside Duradek’s robust warranty, we also offer our customers a 15-year warranty on our installation services. If any issues arise due to our installation, such as bubbles or other defects, we’ll make it right at no extra cost.

Duradek’s 15 Year Membrane Warranty

Duradek is committed to providing a high-quality, long-lasting deck solution. The Duradek System must be installed by an approved Duradek Applicating Contractor to ensure its performance and durability. Below are the key details of the Duradek 15 Year Membrane Warranty:

  1. Approved Installation: The Duradek System must be installed by an approved Duradek Applicating Contractor following currently approved installation methods.
  2. Prompt Repair Notification: The property owner must notify Duradek and the Applicating Contractor in writing upon discovering any repair needs. Repairs will be addressed within a reasonable time after notification.
  3. Warranty Coverage:
    • First 10 Years: If the membrane fails within the first 10 years, Duradek will cover the cost of all materials and labor required to repair or replace the affected portion.
    • Years 11-15: If the failure occurs after 10 years but within 15 years, Duradek will provide the membrane only. The property owner will be responsible for the cost of labor and any additional materials required.
  4. Authorized Contractor Repairs: Repairs will be facilitated through an Authorized Duradek Applicating Contractor. Duradek is not liable for any damage to the building or its contents arising out of contract, tort, or other actions.
  5. Limitations on Liability: The warranty outlines the limit of Duradek’s responsibility, as allowed by the laws of each State or Province.
  6. Exclusions: The warranty does not cover damage caused by natural disasters, vandalism, negligence, structural issues, improper preparation, moisture infiltration, or the failure of materials not supplied by Duradek, among other exclusions.
  7. Surface Appearance Warranty: Duradek warrants the surface appearance of the membrane for 5 years. If issues arise within this period, such as blotchiness or pattern loss, Duradek will replace or re-coat the affected area based on the time of occurrence.
  8. Appearance Issues Not Covered: The warranty does not cover membrane appearance problems caused by factors like fading, discoloration, improper surface protection during construction, or weathering.
  9. Repair Process Exclusions: During the repair or re-coating process, Duradek and the Applicating Contractor are not responsible for removing or replacing items like siding, railings, or furniture, nor for cleaning the deck prior to re-coating.
  10. Third-Party Products: Compatibility and performance of products used in conjunction with Duradek membranes but not supplied by Duradek are the responsibility of the respective manufacturers.
  11. Sealant Maintenance: The sealant used in the Duradek System requires annual inspection and maintenance by the property owner. Duradek and the Applicating Contractor are not responsible for damages resulting from sealant failure after the first year.
  12. Suspension of Warranty: Duradek and the Applicating Contractor reserve the right to suspend warranty obligations if installation supplies and services have not been paid in full.
  13. Joint Warranty Responsibility: Duradek is responsible for material-related problems, while the Applicating Contractor is responsible for workmanship issues.
  14. Applicating Contractor Guarantee: The Applicating Contractor guarantees that the work has been performed in accordance with Duradek’s current standards and specifications. This guarantee covers workmanship-related problems for a period of 15 years, ensuring your deck is installed to last.

Additional Care and Maintenance Guidelines

To maintain the appearance and performance of your Duradek membrane, follow these care and maintenance guidelines:

  • Protecting Your Deck: Use polypropylene-backed mats at doorways and major traffic areas to prevent scuffs and tears. Avoid dragging heavy objects and protect the vinyl from cigarette burns. Use plastic foot pads under metal or cedar furniture and planters to prevent staining.
  • Regular Inspections: Inspect the caulking around posts, pillars, corners, vents, and drains annually to ensure the structure hasn’t shifted, which can break the seal.
  • Cleaning: Clean your deck at least four times a year using Duradek vinyl cleaner. Use a stiff broom and warm water, scrubbing in a circular motion, and rinse with a garden hose. A pressure washer can be used with a maximum setting of 1500 psi, but be careful around seams and caulking.
  • Tough Stains: For tough stains, consult the recommended cleaning methods provided by Duradek. Always test cleaning solutions in an inconspicuous area and follow up with a thorough rinse.

Duradek Tiledek™ 10-Year Membrane Warranty and Installation Warranty

When it comes to safeguarding your deck, choosing the right waterproofing solution is essential. Duradek’s Tiledek™ membrane offers unparalleled protection, ensuring that your deck remains durable and leak-free. We, as authorized installers, are committed to providing top-quality workmanship backed by a comprehensive warranty. Below is the detailed warranty information for the Duradek Tiledek™ membrane and the installation process.

Duradek Tiledek™ 10-Year Membrane Warranty

Coverage
Duradek guarantees to repair or replace any portion of the Tiledek™ membrane that leaks as a result of a manufacturing defect within 10 years from the installation date. This warranty is offered to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

Terms, Conditions & Limitations

  1. Installation by Approved Contractors
    The Tiledek™ membrane must be installed by an approved Duradek Applicating Contractor following currently approved installation methods.
  2. Timely Notification
    The Owner must notify Duradek and the Applicating Contractor in writing of any repairs needed under this warranty promptly upon discovery. Repairs will commence within a reasonable period after the notice is received.
  3. Repair or Replacement
    If the Tiledek™ membrane fails within the warranty’s scope, Duradek will repair or replace the affected portion. Duradek is not liable for damage to the building, contents, or any materials overlaying the membrane, including tiles. This warranty does not extend beyond the stated terms.
  4. Limitation of Responsibility
    To the extent allowed by law, the remedies under this warranty are the limit of Duradek’s responsibility.
  5. Exclusions
    This warranty does not cover damage or loss caused by natural disasters, acts of vandalism, negligence, misuse, improper repairs or alterations, structural issues, condensation, moisture infiltration, ponding water, mold, fungus, or bacterial growth. Additionally, Duradek is not responsible for tile or overlay issues such as freezing moisture, adhesion failure within the bond coat, or any materials not furnished by Duradek.
  6. Non-Responsibility During Repair or Replacement
    Duradek and the Applicating Contractor are not responsible for the following during repair or replacement:
    • Removal and replacement of siding, stucco, railings, or other building structures.
    • Moving or removing hot tubs, planters, furniture, or anything else on the deck.
    • Replacement of tile, slate, or other materials attached to the Tiledek™ surface, including bonding materials.
  7. Sealant Inspection & Maintenance
    If a sealant was used in the original installation, it is the Owner’s responsibility to inspect and maintain it yearly. The warranty will be void if this is not done, as Duradek and the Applicating Contractor are not responsible for damages resulting from sealant failure after the first year.
  8. Suspension of Warranty Obligations
    Duradek and the Applicating Contractor reserve the right to suspend their obligations under this warranty if all installation supplies and services bills have not been paid in full. Proof of purchase and payment must be presented to obtain warranty coverage.
  9. Product Compatibility
    Duradek is not responsible for the compatibility, performance guarantees, or warranties of products used in conjunction with Tiledek™ membranes but not supplied by Duradek.
  10. Bonding Adhesive Responsibility
    Duradek guarantees a fabric surface on the Tiledek™ membrane to which a thinset bonding adhesive will adhere. However, Duradek is not responsible for the choice or performance of the bonding adhesive. Duradek will only take responsibility if no fabric remains attached to the PVC waterproofing membrane.
  11. Applicating Contractor’s Warranty
    The warranty is a joint offer by Duradek and the Applicating Contractor. Duradek is responsible for any materials-related problems with the Tiledek™ membrane exclusively. The Applicating Contractor is responsible for workmanship-related problems and will facilitate necessary repairs according to the terms below.
  12. Applicating Contractor’s Workmanship Warranty
    The Applicating Contractor guarantees that the work has been performed according to Duradek’s most current standards and specifications. The Applicating Contractor is responsible for workmanship-related issues for a period of 10 years. Additionally, the Applicating Contractor may offer an extended written warranty stating the scope of their responsibility.

If any issues arise due to bubbles or other installation-related problems, we will promptly fix them at no cost to you. Protecting and Caring for Your Tiledek™ Membrane

Duradek Tiledek™ is the finest waterproofing method for decks available today, and it requires proper care and protection during and after installation:

  • Protect During Construction: Cover the Tiledek™ membrane during construction with a temporary overlay or apply a thin layer of polymer-modified mortar.
  • Water Test: It is recommended to conduct a water test before applying the overlay to ensure there are no issues with the membrane. This allows for easy repair if necessary.
  • Railing Installation: For optimal performance, fascia-mounted railings are recommended. If surface mounting is necessary, mount to a specially designed pedestal rather than directly through a tile.
  • Tile and Stone Deck Care: Annual application of an appropriate sealer is recommended to prolong the life of the materials and reduce moisture penetration.
